5G Gradually Goes Mainstream
Nearly 40 countries had operational 5G networks by mid-2020

As of August 2020, 38 countries had launched 5G networks across the world, according to a report by the a Global Mobile Suppliers Association (GSA). This way, 5G joins the rank of mainstream technologies used in networking and mobile networking in particular.

According to the industry report, many more countries have had deployed 5G mobile technology without having full-functional 5G networks in place.
Analysts forecast the users of 5G to reach 1 billion people just in 3.5 years, as compared to 4 years for 4G and 12 years for 3G connectivity.
North America, Europe and East Asia are expected leaders in the adoption of 5G while South Korea was the first country to deploy a 5G network. Nonetheless, the fastest 5G network currently operates in Saudi Arabia, a report by Opensignal.
The booming adoption rate of 5G opens the gate for lots of new connectivity options while changing the delivery model for content-rich applications and websites.
