Half of these mobile devices are smartphones, which means some 2.5 billion smartphones are in use worldwide.
On the other hand, only a slightly more than half of the world is having access to the Internet, a report by Hootsuite and We Are Social reads. Of those who have Internet, 3 billion users turn to their mobile devices to use social media channels.
The world is digitizing slowly, with some regions having mobile device penetration of more than two devices per person while others are lacking access to Internet at all. Nevertheless, social media channels on mobile are experiencing growth of both users and, to a lesser extent, usage.
Apparently, it's time to sit down and draft that mobile strategy as well as optimize your web property for mobile.
